A taxidermy animal can last for years, but over time it can become damaged, discoloured or lose its original appearance. At By Max, we restore taxidermy animals and special naturalia so that valuable and unusual pieces can be preserved.
This could, for example, be an old taxidermy animal that has been in your family for many years, or a specimen that has been damaged during transport, storage or through wear and tear. We assess each specimen individually to determine what is needed and what the possibilities are.
Every restoration is different. The possibilities depend on the condition, material and construction of the specimen. Among other things, we can look at damage to the skin, fur, feathers or other parts of a taxidermy animal.
Do you have an old or damaged specimen and are not sure whether restoration is possible? Please feel free to contact us. Based on photos, we can often make an initial assessment.
Send us 5–10 clear photos of the animal, including any damage.
We assess the condition of the specimen and discuss what is possible.
We discuss the desired work and make clear arrangements.
Once agreed, we get to work on the specimen and, where possible, restore its original appearance.
Below you can see several photos of a rhinoceros restoration. The photos show how much the condition of a specimen can vary and the level of care a restoration requires.
Would you like to know what is possible with your taxidermy animal? Send us a few clear photos and briefly tell us what is wrong with the animal. We will be happy to see what we can do for you.
