Male Walrus Skull – A Majestic Piece from the Arctic Circle

This walrus skull from a male walrus (Odobenus rosmarus) is an impressive taxidermy specimen that uniquely captures the strength and robustness of this remarkable marine giant. Walruses are iconic inhabitants of the northern polar regions and are known for their massive build and imposing tusks, which in males are often considerably longer and sturdier. This skull shows not only the size of the animal, but also its adaptations to the harsh life in the cold.

This skull has been prepared with great precision, with every detail of the jawline and teeth perfectly preserved. The powerful tusks of this male walrus make this taxidermy piece not only a striking decorative object, but also a fascinating natural history specimen. The sturdy tusks, which can grow to well over a metre, are used by walruses to pull themselves onto ice floes and to impress rivals and potential mates. The imposing appearance of this skull evokes the wild and rugged character of the northern seas.

Did you know that male walruses, when fully grown, can weigh up to 1.5 tonnes? These weighty marine mammals are surprisingly social and live in large groups, with the males often competing for the attention of the females. Their tusks play an important role in this, as the larger and more impressive the tusks, the higher their status within the group.

This taxidermy male walrus skull is a magnificent and unique piece that brings a touch of polar adventure to any space. For lovers of taxidermy and natural history, this is a valuable addition to any collection, inspiring admiration for the power and beauty of nature. This imposing skull not only brings the charm of the Arctic world indoors, but also serves as a beautiful work of art that reflects the strength and grace of the walrus.
